I had been doing taxidermy for at least 35 years with the dream of someday carving the same things. About 15 years ago I began to do just that. I hand carve and paint everything from game heads to fish and several other species. I coined the name Timberdermist which our family now owns the copyright to.
Each piece is unique because I hand pick the wood by grain, color and size. Some types of wood work better than others for carving.
Our family is originally from Wisconsin but made our home in Olney, Montana, 7 years ago and never looked back. We love this state and all its beauty. We just want to share everything made with this reclaimed wood with others. It’s challenging and time consuming but the finished product is worth it all.
